The game of golf is played on a huge, grass-covered area known as a golf course. The course is either a nine-hole or an eighteen-hole playing field. Many beginners prefer to start with a nine-hole golf course. Some people prefer to go right for the 18 hole golf courses but really, if you're a beginner, 18 holes could make for a very very long day! Each player needs the necessary equipment to play the game. You need a set of playing clubs, balls, shoes, tees, and of course a nice golf bag to put everything into. Once you have the necessary equipment, you must attempt to hit a golf ball into successive holes, which are located on the course. You need to start at the teeing area. Place a tee straight into the ground and then place a golf ball on top of it. Once the ball is set on the tee, swing your club and hit the ball. The goal is to get the ball into the first hole on the course. It's ideal to get the ball in the hole on the first try but that is near impossible, especially for a beginner. Score is kept in the game of golf by how many strokes it takes to hit the ball into every hole. The least number of strokes wins the game! Now, it's difficult enough to hit a small white ball into a hole, but to make the game more interesting, there are all kinds of obstacles on and around a course, making a hole in one even more difficult to obtain.. There are bodies of water, trees, shrubs, sand-filled traps, and roughs. When your ball winds up in an area like this, you absolutely cannot touch the ground or the water with your club. If you decide not to play your golf ball, but then you must add a penalty stroke to your total score. What if you hit your golf ball out of bounds or it gets lost? Here is the basic rule for that: A ball is considered to be lost if is not found within five minutes. If your golf ball is lost or out of bounds, you must add a penalty stroke to your score and replay your last shot.People of different playing levels will swear up and down that their way is best - but really, their is no right way t play golf. You need to have the proper equipment, know the basic rules and then just practice, practice, practice. Many players swear the golf equipment, such as adams golf drivers, can make for a better game. Every game has to have some sort of scoring system, and golf is no exception. These are the basics of the game of golf. Of course, the right equipment and lots of practice is what will make you good at the game!

When I'm playing golf, hustling or just for fun, one thing that I always do before each and every shot is very simple but effective and this lesson will have you doing it too.So many golfers take very little time in setting up and addressing the ball. They just get up, get in a stance, and swing away.If this sounds like you, if you have no consistent routine for addressing the ball but still wonder why you don’t have consistent ball striking, I have one question for you. What the heck do you expect?!!Ilaugh at golfers who set up haphazardly and wonder why they hit their irons fat or thin and have no consistency in their ball striking.Listen to what Jack Nicklaus has said on the matter:“If you set up correctly, there’s a good chance you’ll hit a reasonable shot, even if you make a mediocre swing. If you set up the ball poorly, you’ll hit a lousy shot even if you make the greatest swing in the world.”So, clearly we need to set up with some consistency and correctly each and every time we want to hit the ball. Here are 6 easy steps to take to set up every time you address the ball in order to get into a consistent groove and hit solid shots that the pros use and for some reason almost no professional teacher will teach you while taking your money for lessons.I guess they figure if they teach you enough to get a little better but not enough to truly get better on your own, you’ll have to keep paying them.Anyway, here we go. I execute this set-up plan each and every time I get ready to hit the ball.It may seem time consuming at first but after a few times at the driving range or rounds on the course, it’ll be second nature.Besides, it takes a heck of a lot less time to set up this way than it does to look for your ball in the woods 4-5 times per round!Let’s get started:1. Get your feet in position first. Stand the right distance for you away from the ball with your feet together and with your elbows bent at your sides, arms in front of you and holding the club in the air. The club should be perpendicular to the ground with the head in the air.2. Open your feet to shoulder width, make sure the ball is in the proper position in your stance, depending on which club you are going to use. The club head should still be in the air in front of you.3. Now, without moving the club yet, you want to lock your knees stiff.4. Bend down, lowering the club head behind the ball. Keep your knees straight, bend down from your hips and keep your back, shoulder blades and spine straight.5. Now you can bend your knees, relaxing them slightly but not too much. Always feel like your leg muscles are “engaged”.6. Lastly, tilt the upper body to the right so that your head is just behind the ball. Guess what? You’re ready to hit!I cannot stress enough how much your game will improve if you are consistently follo

Golf fitness evaluation can be an invaluable tool in helping any golfer to assess where they currently stand and thus help them reach a decision of what they can do to improve. It is now an accepted fact amongst golf experts that an improvement in golf fitness almost always means an amazing improvement in the quality and standard of play by any golfer, whether in the junior level or a senior citizen, and irrespective of whether they are male or female. In the old days it was rare for golfers to think of anything like golf fitness evaluation. In fact the word “exercise” could have been classified as a dirty word in golf. In those days golf was considered a gentleman’s game where most played an almost entire game while hardly breaking into a sweat. Therefore exercises and golf fitness evaluation programs were virtually unheard of. But times have changed. The modern game has changed and golf-specific exercises are the rule rather than the exception amongst professionals and so are golf fitness evaluations.Even amongst amateur golfers who are serious about improving their game, it is important to do an evaluation of ones’ golf fitness. Without any evaluation of your current golf fitness level followed by some concrete action, like joining a golf exercise program, chances of enjoying your golf game are very slim and the possibility of you improving your handicap are close to nil. This is because increasingly you will find yourself playing against golfers involved in golf exercise programs. In fact recent research has clearly proved that as golfers who do not exercise, grow older, their game deteriorates making it a more and more frustrating experience rather than the enjoyable leisure activity they may have known for years. It is now becoming increasingly clear by the day that golf fitness evaluation are set to become even more commonplace and a vital tool to help golfers take the necessary action to improve on their game.

Golf exercise benefits are many. Golfers have struggled for years with their games and have become very frustrated. I can’t tell you how many times I play with golfers who are about to quit the game.To explain golf exercise benefits to a golfer takes a little convincing, but in a short amount of time they become believers. There are so many I can’t possible list them all in this article, but you will be motivated to take this approach. Some of the main golf exercise benefits are; improved power for longer drives; dramatically improved stability for better consistency; a body that moves freer, removing tension from the swing; more energy for 18 holes; elimination of injuries; weight loss; improved concentration due to a reduction in fatigue; I could go on-and-on.Improved Power For Longer DrivesIf your body is weak and inflexible you will not be able to achieve optimal swing mechanics. Such things as a full shoulder turn, with minimal hip rotation; creating and retaining torque (energy) in your core for maximum clubhead spead; proper sequence of motion with muscles firing at the appropriate time; being able to swing just a little harder on long par 5’s and still be in control.Removing Tension From The SwingWhen you improve your flexibility (range of motion specific to your golf swing) you are able to make a full backswing with no tension in the supporting muscles of the swing. Like the shoulders, lower back, upper back (lats), and even the wrists. It is known in most athletics that less tension equals more power. More Energy For 18 HolesOne of the biggest culprits of back nine blow-ups is loss of energy resulting in poor mental confidence and swing mechanics. I see this one all the time when I play…golfers who are out of shape and lack appropriate fuel intake and maintenance. Having energy for 18 holes builds tremendous confidence and a higher level of play. Elimination Of InjuriesGolf injuries are prevalent among all amateur golfers, especially senior golfers. The golf swing is a damaging movement on the human body. Swinging a club between 80-100 mph in less than a second can be traumatic. Golfers who don’t have an adequate level of golf strength and flexibility are susceptible to injury every time they swing the club. The lower back usually takes the brunt of the stress and strain. Then hips, knees, shoulders and even wrists. A stronger, more flexible golfer will avoid injuries indefinitely.Weight LossI have worked with over 10,000 golfers via my online golf performance website and they all fill out an initial golf fitness profile. Since I review every one of them personally, I see how many of them have weight loss of 10-30 pounds as a goal. There are more overweight golfers on the course than fit ones. This is because golfers have not come to the conclusion the fitness plays a critical role in golf performance. Exercising will not only improve lean muscle, but melt fat away. To not only improve their golf, but lose weight is icing on the cake for any golfer.Improved ConcentrationHow many times have you had a good score going into the back nine only to have a couple of blow-up holes that ruined your score? It happens all the time. Why? Because your body fatigues and your brain doesn’t maintain a high enough level of concentration. The result is poor club selection; swing mechanics and diminishing confidence. A fitter golfer will always have the edge over an out-of-shape one. When the round progresses and tension creeps in they will prevail every time. The above are only a few golf exercise benefits…but enough to hopefully convince you that it’s worth looking into. The golf swing is now being viewed as a very athletic movement, like baseball, tennis, etc…and should be approached from a conditioning emphasis. I hope you now realize the return on investment from these golf exercise benefits.

Golf conditioning is here and now! Golf has always been viewed as a game of leisure. But today's golfer is leaner, stronger, and fitter. Until the last few years, golfers didn't know how to go about incorporating exercise or, specifically, a golf conditioning program. They have had a vision of going into the local gym and being intimidated by the "muscle heads." It can also be overwhelming to decide what plan of action to take and if it will be worth the time and effort. I have listed three myths about strength training for golf and the truths about them as well."I will bulk up too much and that will hinder my golf swing."Golf conditioning specific for golf will not result in muscle gain that will alter your swing mechanics. To increase muscle size, involves lifting increasingly heavier weights with lower repetitions, increasing your calorie intake dramatically, and spending a couple of hours per day lifting weights.A golf conditioning program incorporates moderate weight, with medium (12-15) repetitions, and in a time frame of 30-45 minutes. This type of program is designed to improve your golf specific strength and endurance, not build muscle."I will lose flexibility if I lift weights."In fact, the opposite is true! Weak muscles are also tight muscles. When you do resistance training, you are increasing blood flow, working through a functional range of motion specific to golf, and strengthening the tendons and ligaments in every joint of your body. In conjunction with a stretching program, strength training will improve flexibility, not hinder it."Weight training will cause me to lose feel."By strengthening your muscles specific to golf, you will have better control of your body. A sport specific program trains your body specifically for your golf game. When you improve functional strength, you have more control and balance, which will improve your feel. Strength training involves body awareness, muscular control, and coordination. These are all key elements for enhanced golf.So in summary, golf conditioning can be done when you are in your early teens (with supervision), or into your late 80's. I have personally worked with people in there 70's and 80's who increased their strength 100%. This was partly due to the initial level of fitness being so low.My point is, that it is never too late to start. Search out a fitness professional or golf conditioning specialist to design a golf specific program and you will play better than you ever imagined! Start now on your golf conditioning program!

There is no doubt that flexibility for golf is extremely important to your golf game. Little wonder that one of the biggest fears among many golfers looking to improve their game is that of losing their flexibility specific to golf as a result of weight training that builds muscles and stretching exercises. This is one of the reasons why many amateur golfers still avoid joining golf-specific exercise and conditioning programs. They mistakenly link every weight-training program with muscle building and bodybuilding.Although it is true that muscle building and body building will tend to make somebody stiff, the facts are that weight training can either be used for body-building and building of muscles, or it can be used to build strength. The golf specific weight training programs are aimed at building strength and endurance. Not muscles. A genuine golf exercise program will have nothing in its’ weight training routine to remotely relate it to muscle or bodybuilding. In fact stronger conditioned muscles will tend to dramatically improve flexibility for golf, rather than reduce it. Flabby, weak, unexercised muscles are the ones that will tend to be very stiff and over time will take away the flexibility for golf in anybody.Stretch exercises, which work best with strengthened muscles are very effective in helping to increase flexibility. These exercises usually have a major impact on the quality of the golf swing for most players. Therefore it is not true that incorporating dumbbells into golf specific exercises makes a golfer lose flexibility. Rather the entire program plays a major role in enhancing flexibility for golf and the results from players who have tremendously improved their game, speak for themselves.

Exercise for a golfer is widely used. Despite the success many professionals have enjoyed, and continue to enjoy in their game, mainly because of golf-specific exercises, many amateur golfers still shun any golf specific exercises. Even when it is rather obvious that leading names in the game like the legendary Tiger Woods heavily rely on staying in good shape for the game by having personal trainers and by being involved in golf specific exercises.Bt far the main reason why most still fear and avoid exercise for golfers is the belief that they will develop muscles. Actually lifting weights are a very effective way of toning the golf-specific muscles for the game, by strengthening them. Strength training using weights will never increase the size of your muscles.Nobody would loathe building big muscles more than most lady golfers. Yet many of them have dramatically improved their games by increasing their strength through golf-specific weight training. Actually you need to be in the gym several hours a day lifting very heavy weights to develop a weight-lifters’ muscles. The weight-lifting exercise regime for golf involves lifting lighter weights many more times over a very short period of time compared to a weightlifter looking for muscles with heavier weights lifted fewer times at a time but for longer hours daily. The fact that many lady golfers have been able to dramatically improve their game by getting involved in exercises for a golfers, but have not build heavy stiff muscles, should be encouragement enough for many amateurs to seriously consider exercise for a golfer programs.Apart from weights, most of the exercises for a golfer involve stretch exercises designed to improve a golf swing. We all love the game of golf, but some times it is just as they say, a good walk spoiled. Here are a few ways to enjoy golf more.1. Don't play the blue tees.
Unless you are at least a 10 handicap or lower, why bother making the golf course even harder than it has to be. If you are shooting in the 90's or triple digits, it makes no sense making a conscious decision to making the course more difficult. Play the white tees and take the extra level of anxiety out of the equation. 2. Improve your lie
When you are having a recreational round of golf, there is no way you should be playing the strict rules of golf. The average round of golf would be at least 6 hours at courses all over the world. Golfers would be returning to the tees all day after hitting there first ball out bounds, or searching for every lost ball for 5 minutes. So if we are bending the rules to save time, why not bend them to improve your lie, something you can actually benefit from. Play winter rules all the time.3. Play different games
Instead playing the same match with your buddies, compete in other categories other than score. Some examples would be:Most fairways hitLeast amount of 3 puttsMost 1 putts4. If it is your honor, take it.
You just birdie the hardest (or easiest) hole on the golf course, it's your tee, you earned it, take it. Challenge yourself to get another one, you will be surprised how often you can have two birdies in a row if you are actually trying to get two birdies in a row.5. Lower your expectations.
If you are a average golfer you play golf twice per week if you're lucky, on top of that, you don't practice as much as you should.. You can't honestly think that your game is not exactly what it should be. Just enjoy the game itself, don't be so hard on yourself when you're not playing well. Even the pros have bad days.

Get Every Putt to the HoleIn team formats, it pays to get the ball to the hole, if only to give your partners a good read. Most putts come up short because the player decelerates on the through-stroke. Instead, make sure your through-stroke is as long or slightly longer than your backstroke.Minimize Your Swing ThoughtsKeep your game plan simple. Put it on a piece of paper on the cart steering wheel and refer to it before each full shot.Preshot: Visualize what you want the ball to do.Address: Align the clubface where you want the ball to go.Swing thought: Freely swing the clubhead.Survive The First-tee JittersNervousness makes you speed up your tempo, which affects consistency and accuracy. Take several deep breaths as you get ready to hit, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Swing your driver smoothly, like you want to hit it only 100 yards.Make More Tough Short PuttsPlaying a format that requires you to putt everything out? Set your putterface square to the desired line, then square your feet and shoulders to that line. Make a smooth stroke while looking at the target, not at the ball.Take More Club on Par 3sFew amateurs hit the ball over or through the green on par 3s; most come up short. Select a club that will get you to the yardage at the back of the green. If you hit it flush, you're on; if you hit it less than solidly, you still might make it to the putting surface.Score Lower on Par 5sTake a "do the math" approach. Most par 5s are 500 yards or more. Make the last shot your favorite yardage into the green. Subtract that yardage, then divide the difference by two. With this strategy, you're hitting lofted clubs that are easier to hit and more accurate.Get Out of the Sand in One TryGood greenside bunker players accelerate the clubhead through the shot, letting the sand "splash" the ball out. Set up with the face of your sand wedge slightly open, the ball slightly forward in your stance. Hit the sand behind the ball, and finish your swing like you're hitting a full 5-iron.Chip with Your Putting Stroke To avoid chunking or skulling your chip shots, take a lofted club like a 7-, 8- or 9-iron and grip it like your putter. Lean the shaft and your body toward the target for a slightly descending blow. Make your putting stroke, allowing the loft of the club to carry the ball over the unpredictable turf onto the green.Get Your Irons AirborneMost topped shots occur when you try to help the ball into the air with a scooping motion. To hit down on the ball, set up with more weight on your left foot than your right. Take the club back more vertically and return it on a downward angle of attack.
